Scholarship, Finiacial Aid, and Entrance Exam information

While some of these dates have passed, it is not to late to register for your exams or apply for aid. Any questions contact your charter teacher.

Scholarships/Aid –  
  • Local scholarships listings and step-by step instructions are available at http://www.yosemiteuhsd.com/counseling/awardform.htm Applications are due March 30th.
  • www.fastweb.com is a clearinghouse for student scholarships by profile (the e-harmony of the scholarship world).  Students create a free profile and this service matches your profile to available scholarships.  Create a profile and keep it updated as early as 9th grade.
  • CSS/Financial Aid profile is an online scholarship marching service of the CollegeBoard.  The fee is $25 for application and $16 per report. This clearinghouse matches your profile to about 600 colleges, universities and private scholarship programs.  www.collegeboard.com click on the “students” link.  This is a fee based service, but combines what Fastweb and FAFSA does and includes private institutions and scholarships. 
  • www.calgrants.org you will need a FAFSA account to apply and a GPA verification form http://www.csac.ca.gov/pubs/forms/grnt_frm/2009_Sept2_GPA_Form.pdf that you will need to bring to us to fill our portion out.  September 2nd 2010 is the deadline for students attending community colleges for the 2010/2011 school year. 
  • www.fafsa.ed.gov is an application for federal student aid, but this number is often used by other scholarship entities.
Entrance Exams –  
  • The SAT and ACT exams are important for college bound students to take.  Different colleges want one or the other or sometimes both.  Contact your Colleges of interest to determine what is best for you. (Both the SAT and ACT offer subject specific tests for the colleges that require them) We have SAT and ACT resources inside the entrance of the science lab (module C) 
  • The SAT fee is $45 and subject specific tests are $20 plus $9 for each additional test.  Register online at www.collegeboard.com/sat  Testing sites are chosen when you register.
  • SAT score reporting is free and now can be sent to colleges and scholarship programs by test date of your selection go to www.collegeboard.com/scstudent 
  • SAT scores are linked to an academic skill index with a strength and weakness index go to www.collegeboard.com/sat-achieve-more 
  • CLEP (College-level examination program) Some colleges will grant credit based on examination.  www.collegeboard.com/clep The fee is $72 plus a test center fee TBA based on test site. 
  • PSAT will be offered at Glacier in October beginning next year
  • 2010SAT dates are as follows:
    • November 7th (Register by October 1st) 
    • December 5th (Register by October 30th)
    • January 23rd (Register by December 15th)
    • March 13th (Register with Glacier by January 22nd) – This is the date for those taking the college and career class
    • May 1st (Register by March 25th) 
    • June 5th (Register by April 29th)

  • December 12-26th (Register by November 6th) 
  • February 6-20th (Register by January 5th) 
  • April 10-24th  (Register by March 5th) 
  • June 12-26th (Register by May 7th)
