Dear Glacier High School 9th, 10th and
11th Graders,
This is a reminder that you are to be here at the Oakhurst Campus, tomorrow morning, 11/2/11 for our school’s benchmark testing. We will be administering the ACT’s Plan test to the 9th
graders and the Explore test to the 10th and 11th
graders. We need you here at school by 8:15. The testing will last approximately three hours. You may use a calculator, so please come prepared with your
own. Please note however, scientific calculators are not allowed. Your regular classes will follow after the testing
concludes. Below is the schedule for tomorrow.

- 10TH GRADE STUDENTS REPORT TO MODULAR ‘B’ AT 8:15 AM
- 11TH GRADE STUDENTS REPORT TO MODULAR ‘C’ AT 8:15 AM

2:30pm-4:00pm - ALGEBRA 1 CLASS
If the Explore is geared toward 8th and 9th graders, why is it being given to our 11th graders? According to the website,
ReplyDelete"EXPLORE is the first part of a testing system that goes on to include PLAN and the ACT. Typically, students take EXPLORE in the 8th or 9th grade, PLAN as 10th graders, and the ACT as juniors or seniors.
Our son has already taken the ACT and SAT last year, and plans to take them again this year. Although the school has chosen the “pre” PLAN and Explore tests for benchmark testing, a three-hour test will in no way benefit a student who is beyond them, and is instead missing his Calculus class for the morning. At least the NWEA test could be scheduled when we could work it in around other classes, which, by the time a student is a junior at Glacier mostly occur off-site.
Very frustrating!
